Not quite as much fun as sand in the eye...

Poor Brodie, soon after Katherine, Sebastian and Harper came over to play Brodie stepped on a small hoe in the sandbox. It sprayed a ton of sand in one eye and his mouth. I spent at least half an hour flushing his eye until I could get each grain out. He was so patient and cooperative even though I can't imagine the pain he was in. His eye looks pretty good and there isn't any redness or swelling which is great. There was about 1/4 tsp of sand in his left eye :(

On a cheerier note, I think Brodie took his last sampling from the counter. Brett and I were online with Linda and Brian after Cooper had gone to sleep trying to get their web cam up and running. Ninja Brodie managed to bring the stool from the bathroom without us noticing and help himself to several chips that were in a bowl on the counter. No biggie except they were Hawaiian BBQ, which are these insanely spicy chips from Costco. All of a sudden he ran up to me with his mouth open, fanning his mouth with his hand saying "mommy! mommy hot! hot ! hot!!" Oh it was hilarious!

***If you double click on the photos it opens them into a larger window.

Brodie loves showing Cooper how the toys work.

With both of them looking down you can see the similarities in their features.

Those cutey curls are so adorable on him.

What I find so amusing is he is filthy, yet not one bite of toast has been taken yet!

can we say green thumb?? He only started growing this bean at nursery school 1.5 weeks ago!

Corporate challenge

Here are the Corporate Challenge pics. Thanks Karlynn for snapping these!

It was really fun, and it stretched the volleyball season a little closer to September when our league starts up again. The funny part of it all was that you are not allowed to serve overhand. At our first practice they told us that and I thought they were joking! But newp, no overhand serves. So in the 2 weeks before the games I had to learn to serve underhand. It was too funny. I think the last time I served underhand was in....grade 6 maybe?? that good ol' tennis serve just makes it way too easy to have a good overhand serve :)

Our shirts made me laugh. this year the picture was a rabbit. So our little cheer was 'Killer Rabbits!" and then those in the Monty Python know would start making sharp pointy teeth!...ok well maybe you had to be there.

Just got this sent to me from Telus, our team photo! Now why did they take it after our 6th game?!

Camping!!

YAY! We just booked our first camping trip in July. This will be the first time for the boys, and a long time since we've been. We're going with our friends Karlynn, Mike, Kade and Ivy and I know we'll have a blast!

Too busy to write!

What a whirlwhind couple of days we've had! Friday was cooking class, then Brodie and I went straight to the university where I gave blood. Brodie stayed with one of the volunteers while I took my turn. They advertise they have childcare but there is no seperate room, no toys besides colouring books...I'm really glad I didn't take Cooper. Good thing brett was home! It was also nice doing Brodie's cooking class without the munchkin strapped to me. blood was quick and painless as usual. I must be getting older, it took me 4 and a half minutes to fill the bag. lol Slowing down in my old age. But thats okay, now that there are no more babies on the way I can do my maximum donations (every 56 days, you can't give while you're pregnant). Its important to me, and also to them since I have O + blood (universal donor).

After blood we went to Dr Sandhu and got a stronger dose of chamomile, then back home, made 6 lbs of dill carrots and off to the nursery school potluck! We were absolutely exhausted when we got home, being minus a pint of blood didn't help either!

Then bright and early Saturday morning was Corporate Challenge volleyball! Thanks to all my fans ;). No seriously thank you so much Karlynn, Brandy and Brett and the boys for coming to watch the games. We split with Dell, beat ATCO and lost big time to Canada Revenue Agency (whoe advanced to the semis). They were so freaking huge, I almost wondered if they have custom doorwys at their offices??? But it was a great time had by all, and it will help tide me over til league play starts up again in September.

So now its Sunday, the ONLY thing on our agenda is mowing the lawn. people might start thinking our house is abandoned!

Last cooking class they made pizza. The kids had a blast and demolished 3 cheese pizzas!

Samantha and Holly. What a sweet picture!

And then there was 4!

Ahh so nice that Brett is home now. He got back this afternoon. Cooper and Brodie were sooo happy to see him! A really long day for Brett, he has been up since 1am our time!

I'm so not a hockey person, but hey its a good time to live in Edmonton. LOL.

Are you really my daddy?? Maybe I should check if its a mask...

Oh YAY! it IS you!

Oh right, its a long weekend

I don't think our long weekend could be any longer or anymore uneventful! I'm defnitely feeling the effects of single parenthood after just a mere 2 weeks. I hope Brett comes home soon, I'm bushed! Played outside today in the jungle otherwise known as our backyard and thats about it, really really uneventful. But we're happy and helathy and thats just great!

I put Cooper back on 2 doses of chamomile a day and that did the trick. he had a great sleep last night, now if only I could have slept!

Wonderful brothers!

Bright eyed sweetie :)

Just as bright eyed!

Brodie drew this helicopter in his birthday card to Uncle Sean. Isn' it great?!

No sleep for the wicked

I must have been very very bad in a past life. Cooper's sleep has been terrible! He wakes up every 1/2 hour or so, sometimes every 15 minutes, until I give him more chamomile or advil. Thinking back this all started when we went down to one dose of chamomile after our Wednesday appointment. So starting today we are back at a twice a day dosage. I'll try without advil since I'm sure now it hasn't been teeth bugging him the last few days.

Brett may be home tomorrow! How exciting :)

Here's Brodie wearing the volcano shirt I finished for him today.

Here is Mr. Shrieky-kins

this kid can break glass with this shriek!

This is a video so just click on the blank box

<--------

I'm melting..I'm melting!

I'm feeling very wicked witch of the west today. Its sooo hot. We got home from our errands at about noon and it was already 29 degrees. ick.

Today our too too-hot-to-play-outside craft was yarn flowers. Brodie made a bouquet for each of his nursery school teachers.

Now to go make something for dinner that requires absolutely no heat.

Brodie loves it when I leave my knee pads out after volleyball. He is determined to learn volleyball, little cutie :)

These are the yarn flowers. Pretty sweet!

And heres me, since most of you rarely get to se me anymore!

One week down, one to go

A busy few days here. Brodie got pretty sick, a couple of fevers a day for 3 days. He seems fine now, thankfully we are all pretty much 100% again. That was a long haul!

I had a volleyball practice tonight which was great. Katherein, even though they just moved into their new house a couple iof days ago, came to babysit the boys so I could go bang some balls around :) I feel totally refreshed to tackle another week as super mommy.

Yesterday we started a craft project. Quite ambitious to do with a 3 year old, but we are making papier maché planets to hang from his ceiling. I realized that I have pretty good foot control. With my goopy hands I was forced to pick up any toy Cooper threw from his high chair with my toes and pass it to him :) I thought I was pretty talented lol.

Unfortuantely the planets went to hell today and 2 of them got tossed so I have to call my mommy and find out what the secret is to papier maché since I obviously don't know it!

We're looking forward to a 30 degree day tomorrow (not), so either I figure out a new crafty project or we go shopping. Or option 3 is we could just sit in the house and melt.

Cooperkins is sleeping great :) We see the homepathic dr again tomorrow to get some more chamomile. I'm not sure how long he'll ahve to be on it, but I hear that most reflux corrects itself once the babe starts walking.

I forgot the camera on our 3.5 hour walking excursion around the river valley today. But it is beautiful on the trails now. I do promise to take my camera everywhere with me for the rest of the week though!

Is this bird flu? Oh and Happy Mothers day.

Seriously, I' so sick of sickness! I'm almost better, Cooper seems better but now Brodie has a fever today. It actually explains a lot. He was such a strange bird yesterday. About 8-10 months ago I bougth a little Diego figurine for him. He already had a Dora one so I thought it would be fun to have someone for Dora to play with :) So I pulled it out of the bag and he burst into tears and yelled "put it away! put it away!". So I put it back in the bag and returned it to the store the next day.

All of a sudden yesterday morning he walked up to me, crying, and said " you put Diego in the bag! Iwant him back right now!" How strange is that, anyway to say the least it was an unpleasant few hours with Brodie who was quite P.O'd that I'd returned it to the store.

That is just one example of how bizarre yesteday was.

So please please tell me you are having a much better Mothers Day than I am!

4 days down ?? to go

Brett dropped the bomb today that they may need to stay longer than 2 weeks. That pretty much wrecked my day, but what can you do?

Actually it'll come back to bite him in the bum. the grass will be so freaking long by the time he gets back he'll have to mow it at least twice. Hopefully poor Mona won't get too lost in it in the meanwhile!

Pics today are all about Cooper! I'll have to make it up to Brodie by taking a ton of him tomorrow. At the moment he's not too photogenic for web purpsoes. He keeps declaring its underwear day!

Smiley baby here. Smiley baby there.
concentrating too hard to smile. Very rare ;)
Mmmmmm mush.

Princess is desperately in need for her summer cut! When her hair was this long once a little boy came up to me at the vets office and said "Your dog doesn't have eyes". I should take that as a major hint.

I'm trying to attach a shrieky Cooper video so that will have to come later. Its not working at the moment.

The baby Pterodactyl sleeps!

That is what a lady at Brodie's cooking class nicknamed my happy (yet very shrieky ) baby. He has a lot to say and at this point shrieking is his medium!

Today I feel like a million bucks, minus the lingereing cold, because Cooper slept from 10:30 last night til 5:30 this morning without waking up once!!! Today is a joyous day in the house of Walsh.

We've had a busy couple of days around here. Brodie had nursery school on Thursday, and cooking class on Friday. On Thursday and Friday Karlynn and Amanda came to visit with me which was great! Thanks guys :)

I got the cutest Mothers Day present from Brodie. At nursery school he made me a little beaded bracelet. Its so adorable! he also drew me a little card to go with it. Such a nice surprise since I was so sure that it would be an uneventful mothers day with Brett out of town. I've been able to talk to him a couple of times and he sounds a million miles away. I guess thats what happens when you're a 3 hour helicopter flight out in the ocean!

Here is Brodie and his friend Lily cutting potato and carrot to make potato soup!

Bear with me

okay, thanks to smarty pants Amanda I think I have the video figured out. Lets give it a try. It should be a video of Cooper trying his darndest to crawl.

Doh, that didn't work. maybe this time:

okay, 3 times lucky.....

Well it took 4 times but whatever! Jsut click ont he big blank square and you'll be taken to photbucket.com to see it!

can you really be happy about a rash?

Actually yes, very much so! Cooper broke out in a small rash last night. He's had no fever since and all is almost back to normal in the Walsh household....except Brett left this morning :( He'd usually almost be home by now *sigh* Hopefully he had a nice flight and he'll be able to call tonight before the boys go to bed. Secretly I'm jealous that he'll be getting uninterrupted sleep for 2 weeksLOL.

We had a great day playing outside today, I played basketball with Brodie and played in the sandbox while Cooper napped and when he woke up I sat in a screen house with Cooperkins and embroidered a cutesy traffic light snap t. Great day out there, Just warm enough to enjoy but not hot enough to sweat for no reason :)

Can you buy ladybugs anywhere? Blech the aphids are yucky.

House of Sick

We have now all succumbed to illness :( Colds all around, and I'm pretty sure Cooper has baby measles. Sounds much worse than it is, basically a fever for a few days then they break out in a rash. All the while not seeming particulary ill. So if there is a rash tomorrow, mystery solved!

We were just taking some pics for Brett to take with him to Nfld. How cute are these munchkins??

Um does anyone look sick? newp. Like Brett said Cooper doesn't know how to be sick and Brodies such a champ :)

Blah

Poor Cooper, he's been up all night with a fever. It also seems like he has a cold and vomited once this morning. Poor kid! I'm hoping the fever is just teething. brodie is a bit disappointed because now we've had to cancel a big playdate we were supposed to have at our house this afternoon.

Here is a picture of the birthday card Brodie made for Brett on his bday. The people on the left are playing tag, his favourite game to play with daddy :)

Well there is a first time for everything

Welcome family, friends and anyone else who has stumbled into our little speck on the world wide web.

As often as possible you will find updates on the two wonder boys, and puppy princess extraordinaire. Check back often!

I will start on a few little updates on the family Walsh!

Yesterday Brett turned the big 3-7, of course we all know he doesn't look a day over 36 ;) kidding. He's fabulous, what a spring chicken I have! Unfortunately since he is leaving town for 2 weeks we spent the whole day preparing for my stab at single motherhood. Eek!

Brodie is his usual wonderful self. He makes Cooper laugh so hard everyday. Just the epitome of big brother. Gymnastics has finished til Fall, or ever again. And right now we are halfway through his cooking class. Which is such a great experience for him! So far they have made fruit salad, french toast and sandwiches. Can't wait to see what the little chefs will make next week. Each recipe also has some craft to go with it. For instance their sandwich making day they first made ants out of egg cartons and pipe cleaners, sandwiches and apple slices for a picnic, ate outside then played in a playground. What a great idea! nursery school will end in June, but he'll be going back 2 mornings a week starting in September. He is so amazing at tennis and today he was swinging the softball bat too and htiting a few of them!

The deliriously happy Mr. Cooper is doing great on his chamomile. Quick background for those who don't know, Cooper has reflux. It wasn't terribly serious but it was silent which made it tricky to diagnose. Meaning it went up the esophogus but then back down. he didn't spit up very often but was very bloated and could only sleep in hour or so spurts. The pediatrician prescribed zantac which I was soooo sad to give him but it made a huge difference. After a month of zantac I decided to take him to a homeopathic doctor. Who instead precribed chamomile. It works great! he is sleeping so much better, he isn't bloated, does not spit up at all and now actaully enjoys playing on his tummy! I love the Doctor we found and we'll all be seeing him from now on.

Miss Mona has been on a vegetarian kibble for a month now and we've never seen her look better. Finally a solution to her allergies! She is also on an omega 3-6-9 supplement and her coat is so soft and shiny :)

And me, well I'm the same as always. Product aware (synonymous with paranoid) and doing my pilates everyday and crafting up a storm! I just got on the Telus volleyball team for corporate challenge, and the tennis clubs opened this week so when Brett gets back from Nfld I can go get my membership :)

So don't expect this much text in posts to come, I had to stay up way past my bedtime to type this all out! Instead pictures will probably replace the words!

Thanks for coming, see you again soon now y'hear?

My boys, what a handsome bunch.

I don't know what I would so without this stroller! What would Mona do without this stroller! She might be forced to walk the ENTIRE way!

Me and smiley in the sling.
