I got a call from the Holistic vet clinic today. Mona's bloodwork and urine sample and culture results came back. She isn't concentrating her urine, her kidney enzymes are higher then before...so it is kidney disease. We really lucked out that we caught it so early and were able to put her on a low protein, low phosphorous and low sodium diet Her levels since her last bloodwork 6 months ago are a halfway between mild-moderate increase. At the moment she is doing really well. I'm making her food again and it is a ground bison (the whole thing including bones), and spinach, apple and pumpkin. She's so cute she does a happy dance at dinner time on her hind legs batting the air with her paws :)
So ...now we wait. Her first symptoms will be drinking excessively, losing interest in her food and depression at the end it will be kidney failure.
*sigh* We're really sad but we know she has had a great life and she is still a happy dog today. We're working with the holistic vet and she is getting a chinese herbal medicine powder we add to her food. That will hopefully slow down the process a lot.
We really feel we have been so lucky to have had a great dog like her. I'll definitely be taking more pictures of her and the boys since I know they will never forget her.

I am so sorry....I was told dogs with Kidney Disease can still live for quite awhile depending on how the respond to the diet change.
Skittles is doing really well on the low protein diet. She behaves like a puppy now! Every time I find a roll of toilet paper unraveled and all over the house I want to complain but then remember if she wasn't doing this I would be very sad.
I also have to apologize about the Udo's, with all the things that had gone on in my life at the time it totally slipped my mind. Then I was embarrassed.
That is one lucky pooch to have an owner willing to do so much for her. Here's hoping the diet change helps her day to day! That's a great photo of her!!
Poor Mona, good thing she has you to look after her tho!
That's really sad news, m. I hope she responds well to the diet change. Pets are such an important part of the family, and I know Mona is no exception.
